WHAT IS COGNITIVE HEALTH?

Cognitive health influences how we think, learn, remember and function every day.

Clinical neuropsychologists help individuals understand how the brain may be affecting key areas such as memory, learning, thinking, attention, behaviour, emotions, and everyday functioning.

Using a range of evidence-based assessments and techniques, a clinical neuropsychologist evaluates cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty to build a clearer picture of each individual’s cognitive functioning. This information assists in understanding neurobehavioural conditions, supporting diagnosis, and guiding practical recommendations, support, and intervention strategies aimed at improving cognitive health.

Supporting the recovery and improvement of cognitive skills, including, attention, learning, memory, and executive functioning.

AREAS WE SUPPORT

Cognitive functions are interrelated, each often presenting a secondary impact on others. This often displays in a combination of reported or visible challenges to day-to-day living. Our holistic approach treats the whole individual, not purely the presenting condition, supporting clients to manage daily tasks, emotional wellbeing, relationships and independent living.

  • Attention and Concentration

  • Processing Speed

  • Working Memory

  • Learning and Memory

  • Processing Visual and Spatial Information

  • Executive Functions (including, self planning-organisation-management, reasoning and problem solving, cognitive flexibility and control)

  • Emotional experience and response regulation (particularly in response to neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive disorders).

Why Clinical Neuropsychology Matters.

Clinical neuropsychology is a specialist area of psychology focused on understanding how brain function influences thinking, behaviour, emotions and everyday performance.

Unlike general psychological approaches, clinical neuropsychology combines advanced training in neuroscience, cognitive assessment and rehabilitation to provide highly targeted, evidence-based support.

At Cognitive Pathways, every assessment and treatment plan is informed by a deep understanding of how cognitive systems work together — and how they can be strengthened, restored or optimised.
